Obituary of Marion Doris Wade

WADE: Marion Doris (nee Searle) passed away peacefully on June 22, 2016 at the age of 94. Born on September 21, 1921, in Rapid City, MB, Marion moved to Brandon with her family at the age of 7. She married W.R.S (Sherry) Wade in 1942, with whom she had two children. After a brief time working at St. Paul's Church as Christian Education Director, Marion returned to school in 1966, graduating from Assiniboine Community College with a diploma in social work. Following graduation she worked for the Children's Aid Society until retiring in 1986. Marion was an active member of her community and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Brandon Toastmistresses, served as a CGIT leader for 35 years, was Director of the Children Aid Society's camp for 17 summers, and acted as a Board member for the Brandon Festival of the Arts. At her church Marion was a member of the Baptist Women's League, including time spent as President and as a visitor, sang in the choir, served on the Christian Education committee, and was a member of the bowling league. In her free time Marion enjoyed curling, letter writing, knitting, cross stitch, entertaining and visiting with family and friends near and far. Marion was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Georgina (Pearl) Searle, sisters Dorothy and Florence, brother Clayton and husband Sherry. She leaves to mourn her passing: brother Stanley (Bud) Searle, Carleton Place, ON; son Clayton Wade (Diane), Rocky Mountain House, AB; daughter Lynda Henry (Niel), Brandon, MB; grandsons James Wade (Laurie), Rocky Mountain House, AB; David Wade (Lynne), Rocky Mountain House, MB; granddaughters Christy Henry, Brandon, MB; Jennifer Morton (Kerwin), Brandon, MB; and great grandchildren McKayla, Dalin, Jenna and Shae Wade, and Ash and Georgia Morton. A celebration of Marion's life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 3881 Park Avenue, Brandon, on Saturday July 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. Donations in memory of Marion may be made to the First Baptist Church, 3881 Park Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 3V6 or a charity of your choice.
