Obituary of May Gray

GRAY: A. May Gray passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at her residence, Hillcrest Place, at the age of 100. May is survived by son Bob Walker (Brenda); Wayne Gray (Sharon); Dale Gray (Georgina) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husbands: Robert Leslie Walker (1944), Albert William Gray (2010); parents George and Ellen Boles; daughter Patricia James and son-in-law Russell James; as well as five brothers and two sisters. In 1937, May married Robert Leslie Walker of the Forrest district and had two children, Patricia and Robert (Bob). In 1944, Leslie passed away from a farm accident. May then moved from the farm to Brandon to raise her two children, Pat and Bob. May worked at the Brandon Mental Hospital for 5 ½ years before she accepted a job in the CSR Department at the Brandon General Hospital in 1959. On November 11th, 1961, May married Albert Gray. Albert had two sons, Wayne and Dale. Albert and May enjoyed travelling and spent many happy times "on the road." May enjoyed her many family Christmases at her daughter's home in Winnipeg. Her favorite treat was a strawberry sundae from Dairy Queen. A Celebration of May's Life will be held at the Brandon Cemetery on Monday, July 11th at 1:30 p.m. with Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne, officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the George Brockie Fellowship Centre, (Brockie Donovan), 332-8th Street. We would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest Place for all their kindness and love shown to Grandma during her eight-year stay. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of May can be made to Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home, 930-26th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 2B8.
