Obituary of Elizabeth 'Bessie' Anderson

ANDERSON: Elizabeth (Bessie) of the Forrest District and in recent years, Brandon, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the age of 97, following a long and well-lived life. Bessie was born in Teulon, Manitoba on January 21, 1919 to Frank and Bella Wood. Along with seven siblings, she learned strength, resilience and generosity as survival skills in the Depression Era; which would greatly benefit her family throughout her life and theirs. After a five-year teaching career, she married Frank Anderson, the Agricultural Representative in Teulon in the summer of 1942. Bessie was predeceased by her husband in 2002. She is survived by daughters: Shirley (Michael), Bonnie (Gerry), Margaret and son, Bill (Fran, deceased). She is also survived by six grandchildren: Peter Cameron, Emma Cameron, Rachael Zelman, Sarah Zelman, Sean Anderson, Vaughn Anderson and three great-grand children: Liam, Aidan and Amy Anderson. She was a great influence on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You can find her offspring in China, Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The descendants of Bessie Anderson are gardening, preserving food, hanging clothes on the line, knitting and playing sports. A Celebration of Bessie's Life will take place at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday August 10th, 2016, with Reverend Barbara Jardine officiating. Donations in memory of Bessie may be made to the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba for Restoration of the Dome, 115- 10th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4E7 or to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Room for Renewal," 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
