Obituary of Willis Orme Stitt

STITT: Willis Stitt passed away suddenly on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Brandon Regional Health Centre. The funeral service was held Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at McDiarmid Alliance Church with Pastor Darryl McAuley officiating, and interment was at Rossburn Cemetery. Willis was born to Wm. & Florence Stitt on October 4, 1929. He attended Islay School in Vista, studied agriculture at University of Manitoba and worked at Imperial Oil in Winnipeg. On June 5, 1954 he married Mary Sim and together they took over the family farm and had a family of three. In 1966, an auto accident claimed the lives of his wife and oldest son. Willis soon remarried (Mary Seal of Sussex), had a son but divorced. On June 7, 1976 Willis married Mildred Heindle of Rossburn. They moved to Brandon where Willis worked with Assiniboine Realty for several years. Upon returning to Rossburn, they owned and operated their own Autopac-insurance and real estate business. Upon retirement, Willis & Mildred enjoyed traveling; golfing; curling; gardening; watching baseball and having coffee with friends. Willis was pre-deceased by his wife, Mary; one son; his parents; sister and two brothers-in-law. He is survived by his wife Mildred; one sister; six children; 18 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of the ICU, Brockie Donovan, and McDiarmid Alliance Church for their kindness and care.
