Obituary of Rosetta Moroz

MOROZ: Rosetta (née Dutka) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her residence, Hillcrest Place, at the age of 92 years young. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1982; parents Joseph and Mary and an infant sister, Anne, in the Ukraine. Rosetta was born in Windsor, Ontario in 1924 and moved to Brandon at six months of age with her parents. She took her schooling at David Livingstone, Earl Oxford and Brandon Collegiate. Her work years were at Rumfords Laundry Cooperative Store; Woolworth's and United Cigar Store in Woolco. She was an avid baseball and basketball player. She loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays and really did not like to be disturbed during a game. In later years, she enjoyed bowling and would check in with you to see if you checked out how the Centennial Ladies were doing in league play, as the scores were posted in the Brandon Sun. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rosetta was an avid traveler and she travelled to many places around the globe including Rome; Hawaii; Ukraine; Russia and Las Vegas to name a few. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Nearly New Store for a number of years. She also worked hard at maintaining a large garden and yard as that was a passion from the "North Enders". Rosetta very much enjoyed the many bus trips to the United States and various casinos around the area. Even after she moved into Hillcrest, she enjoyed taking the Handi-Transit to Church on Saturday and then to Smitty's for supper. Her health declined due to Parkinson Disease and despite it she maintained a cheerful, witty attitude. She will be lovingly remembered by her cousin Stella Old (Brandon), Jeff, Kathryn, Jessica Old (Brandon), Bill, Shelly, Jordan Old (Brandon), Michael, Michael William, Maria-Mercedes Taciuk (Edmonton), Terry, Lynn, Alexander Taciuk (North Vancouver), Larrisa Taciuk, London, England and John, Linda, Parker Taciuk (Edmonton) and many, many friends and relatives from Canada and the United States. The Family would like to extend a Huge Thank You to the staff at Hillcrest Place for the care that Rosetta received, for that we will be forever grateful. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk officiating and Tony Yuriy as Cantor. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Sonny Moroz; Bill Old; Jeff Old; Jordan Old; John Taciuk and Terry Taciuk. Flowers are gratefully declined; donations in memory of Rosetta may be made to Parkinson Canada, 208-1011 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 0L5.
