Obituary of Gladys Irene Snyder

Gladys Irene Snyder (née Linner): Gladys Snyder passed away suddenly but peacefully with family by her side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday December 27, 2016. She is survived by her sons: Don (Susan); Randy (Mary); Garth (Sherry); Vern (Theresa) and her companion Mike Linski; sisters-in-law Audrey and Joyce; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and even one great-great grandchild. Also left to mourn are many other family members and friends. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Seward Roy; parents August and Ethel Linner; siblings Ellen; Edward; Marion and Laverne. Gladys was born in McAuley, Manitoba on October 14, 1929. She was the youngest of five children and raised in the Manson area. On June 6, 1949 she married Roy and settled in Elkhorn, Manitoba. She was a busy mom raising four boys; although not always easy, they all thrived. In 1968, they moved to Brandon and she started her working career (outside of the home). Her first job was a retail sales clerk at Breslauer & Warren. She also spent many years working as a booking agent at the local bus lines (Grey Goose & Grey Hound). Roy passed away March 15, 1988, leaving her a young widow. Gladys had many interests which included curling; hockey; golfing; dancing and Wheat King games with Mike. She joined a line-dancing group and had the time of her life. She loved to travel and has been to many places. She also loved to spend time with family and friends. Gladys spent many years at the Lions Manor and then joined Mike at the Village Green Condos. They enjoyed almost six years together. Special thanks to Brenda Koengson and Val Anderson for their ongoing help and support to Gladys (Mom) over the years, also to the Brandon EMT's and the staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre for their thoughtfulness and compassion during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Unit 3-2430 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB R7B 0M5.
