Obituary of Louise Begyn
BEGYN: Louise Begyn, loving wife of the late Marcel Begyn, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the age of 85. Predeceased by her cherished husband, Marcel, who passed away May 31, 1998 and survived by her 6 devoted daughters, Linda (Ron) Shand, Mary Ann (Pat) Everett, June (Doug) Stanley, Dianne (Royal) Gareau, Denise (Dale) Foster, and Michelle (Laurie) Biggs, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also survived by twin brother Lou (June) Kalnitzky; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. On September 4th, 1931, Louise and Lou were the first set of twins born in the small town of Arcola, SK. Parents, George and Rosalia Kalnitzky, raised them on a family farm south of Manor, SK. Mom dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and the healthcare field, where she was a nurse for 40 years (1952-1992) at the Assiniboine Hospital. Mom was a long time parishioner of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the CWL. She always found strength within her faith and this was a value she instilled in her family. Mom was always the centre of attention at family gatherings. Her sense of humour brought everyone joy, especially to her sons-in-law, who affectionately poked fun at her - which resulted in her nickname "Weezy." She enjoyed spending her time at her cabin at Kenosee Lake, SK, Belgium bowling, playing card games, and visits from treasured friends and family. She always expressed how lucky she was to be blessed with such a wonderful family and so many dear friends. Louise's family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home for all their care and support over the two years she resided there. A special thank you to Dr. Mohamed and Dr. Goossen who helped Louise have extra time with her family. The family held a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine's Church, January 30, 2017, officiated by Father Kelly Wilson. A private interment was held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Louise's name, can be given to Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home, 930-26th Street, Brandon, MB, R7B 2B8.
She Is Gone
You can shed tears that she is gone,
Or you can smile because she has lived,
You can close your eyes and
pray that she will come back,
Or you can open your eyes
and see all that she has left.
Your heart can be empty
because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love
that you shared,
You can turn your back on
tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow
because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what she would want:
smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.
