Obituary of Paul Hyrsak

HYRSAK: Paul Hyrsak (1916-2017) passed away peacefully at his residence at Rideau Park on Wednesday February 08, 2017. A long life culminated with many happy moments with the compassionate and caring staff at Rideau. Paul was born in Vista, MB to Mike and Anna (Yaskiw). He was one of nine children. Dad married Kay (Waytowich) on October 09, 1939. After many hours of night school and practical experiences, Dad obtained his Carpentry Certificate. He was a skilled carpenter who supervised many building constructions in Brandon and area. Dad was a Gunner for 17 FD RECT RCA during WWII. He served in Denmark and his final posting in Frankfurt, Germany. After the war, Dad became the Legion President in Oakburn, MB. He proudly laid the Wreath during the Remembrance Day service held at Rideau Park. Dad had many skills, hobbies and interests. He avidly collected, fixed and played violins and other instruments. Home was always full of musical entertainment. During his life, he was an ardent fisherman, hunter and curler. Dad's biggest attribute was his inventive skills. There was nothing he couldn't fix, design or change. His love for animals, especially his dogs Sparky, Cleo and Lucky, played a big part in his life. Paul was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church for over sixty years. Dad and Mom were blessed with seventy-four years of marriage. Paul is survived by his son Nelson (Judi), daughter Linda (Garry) McIntosh, grandchildren Calla (Don) Cooper, Darron (Leah), great-grandchildren Mitchell and Kylan Cooper, Rachel and Bryce Hyrsak and brothers Melvin and Philip. Paul was predeceased by his wife Kay, infant son Delmar, his parents and step-mother, five brothers and two sisters.
