Obituary of John Robert "Bob" Knight

Knight, John Robert "Bob" John Robert, known to friends as Bob, passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2017 at 5:00 am with his family by his side. He was 78. Bob was born on July 9th, 1938 in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. Since he was a kid, Bob always loved playing and watching sports. He coached peewee/bantam hockey when his boys were young. He also coached baseball bantam/midget in Cartwright and continued to be a huge fan of many sports as he got older including football, hockey, baseball and curling. It was at one of these many sporting events that he earned the nickname "Rocket" by his friends. Bob was happiest when he was watching a sporting event with his family. He could often be found cheering on the Bombers or Jets while enjoying a beverage along with his favorite snack, Crunchies or half of a banana. Bob worked for Canada Post for 29 years and was Postmaster at Cartwright Post Office until he retired in 1999. He and his wife, Lorraine moved from Cartwright to their new home in Brandon in 2015. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Lorraine and their children Brian, Alan (Gerri), and Dan (Jackie). Bob will also be fondly remembered by his 4 grandchildren Erin, Dawson, Cameron and Carter. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Eva (nee McLeod) Knight. A special thank you to the ALS Society of Manitoba for all of their support, as well as a thank you to the Palliative care staff at Assiniboine Centre, Brandon. At Bob's request, no service will be held. Donations in Bob's memory can be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2A - 1717 Dublin Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3H 0H2. Website: alsmb.ca.
