Obituary of Trevor James Hillis

HILLIS: On April 13, 2017, our beloved Trevor James Hillis passed away in Brandon, Manitoba. Trevor was born in Brandon on February 11, 1967 to Terry and Mildred Hillis. Trevor's early years were spent on the family farm helping with chores and playing with older brother, Wayne and cousins, Valerie and Richard. He attended 4-H, played hockey and baseball and excelled in any sport he took part in. Trevor received his education at Forrest Elementary and Elton Collegiate. From an early age Trevor loved the animals, eventually joining the family farm in the daily operations. In 1994, Trevor married Alanna and became an instant Dad to Michael, Christine and Tiffany. In 2001, he and family moved back to the family farm – eventually taking over more of the day to day operation. In 2007, Trevor branched out on his own, taking a job with Steve's Livestock, then in 2014, changed careers, hauling gravel for Whiskey Creek Transport which he very much enjoyed. As his children grew and grandchildren came, his life was full as he spent many hours with them. As a man who was always close to home, he developed "The Travel Bug" and enjoyed time with family. Trevor is survived by his loving wife, Alanna of 23 years; his parents, Terry and Mildred; children, Michael (Brenda), Christine (Ryan), Tiffany (Matt); grandchildren; Rayn, Julie, Kuutsiq, Josh, Quluaq, Bradi, Kennedy, Aubreigh, Halle, Braiden. Also surviving, sister-in-law, Shelly and his special nephews, Eric and Christopher and other extended family. Trevor was predeceased by his brother, Wayne in 2005, grandparents, Milton and Marg Hillis, George and Mamie Murray and numerous family members. The Funeral Service for Trevor was held on April 20, 2017 at Central United Church with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Interment took place at Zion Cemetery.
