Obituary of Nancy Ellen Baynton

BAYNTON: Nancy Ellen Baynton died on May12, 2017 at the age of 65 years. She is survived by her younger siblings: two sisters, Janice Irene Baynton and Lisa Elisabeth Baynton-Cairns as well as her brother, Robert Mark Baynton. Her family is most grateful for the 40 years of generous care that Nancy received at the Hillcrest Place Nursing Home. The length of her stay with them is a tribute to the joy the staff were able to bring to her day to day life as well as the quality of health care practiced. Nancy, born November 2, 1951, was the first born to Irene and Bill Baynton. Happy summers at Clear Lake punctuated each school year's completion. J.R Reid, Vincent Massey and Brandon University were her venues of education. Nancy loved to cook and bake. She planned a career in social work. When her Mother's multiple sclerosis advanced, Nancy's ability to care for others was a solid pillar of support that further strengthened her family. Three younger siblings thrived under her warmth, her kindness, and her good humour. Nancy's health changed dramatically at the age of 18. She graduated from Brandon University while struggling to regain her physical health and abilities. She lived at home and in hospitals until the age of 25 when she entered Hillcrest Place. Over the 40 years in Hillcrest Place, Nancy maintained a love and an interest in her siblings and their active lives. Her good humour in the face of the life she was given was a wonder to witness. It became apparent that she was not suffering, but fighting for every day she might have. Janice, Lisa and Mark are most grateful for the care of the friends she made over the 40 years at Hillcrest Place. Dr. Egan was her physician for 25 years and was most attentive to Nancy's needs. There was a Memorial Service held at Central United Church on Wednesday May 17, 2017. Nancy was then interred with her Mother and Father at the Brandon Cemetery. In remembrance of Nancy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers a prayer or a simple happy thought be sent Nancy's way.
