Obituary of Donna Thompson

THOMPSON: With sadness we announce the passing of Donna Elizabeth Thompson on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Donna was born February 8, 1936 to the late Viola and William Wallace of Alexander, MB. Mom grew up on a farm at Alexander, moving to Brandon to attend Normal School and then Brandon College, graduating on June 8, 1956. She taught school for one year in Nesbitt, MB and three years in Margaret, MB. On August 1, 1959 she married Gordon and they moved to the family farm at Beresford, MB. Donna spent many years loving farm life until moving to Brandon in 2003. Along with working on the farm, Donna worked at Prairie Oasis Senior Centre and Manitoba Housing. She was a member of Queen Mary Chapter #3 OES for 60 years, Brandon UCT Ladies Auxiliary and South Brandon/Roseland Community Clubs. Donna and Gordon enjoyed many winters in Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed retirement life with their many friends from Canada and the USA. Over the years she could be seen cheering on the sidelines at soccer fields, baseball diamonds, hockey rinks and school activities following her grandchildren. She also enjoyed lunches and attending social events with her many friends. Donna is survived by her husband Gordon; daughter Shannon and her husband Trevor and their son Skylar Peters; son Bill his wife Thea and their children Kailey and Jayce Thompson. She is also survived by brother Bill Wallace; sisters-in-law Pat McManus; Betty and Frank Rabe and their families. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Brockie Donovan Chapel with interment at Alexander Cemetery. Urn bearers were grandchildren Jayce, Kailey and Skylar.
