Obituary of Jacob "Jake" Ewert

EWERT: JACOB ERNST (Jake) passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon, MB, with his brother David by his side. Jake was born on August 12, 1950 in Winkler, MB, and was the eldest of three children. He was the loving son of Peter J. and Anna Ewert and the supportive, nurturing brother of David and Linda. Jake received his education in Manitou, Manitoba and then began a life of farming north of Manitou. In 1972, Jake relocated along with his family to their farm just south of Minnedosa. Jake enjoyed farming and always helped where he could. Along with farming, Jake was very passionate about his work at Fraser Auction Services. He worked the gate, greeting and directing people, of which many became his friends. He took special pride in his work and found happiness in meeting and visiting with everyone. He also had a love for antique machinery of any kind. He was always excited to go to the Threshermen's Reunion in Austin, as this was one of his favourite places to be. Jake loved the outdoors, especially if fishing or sitting by a bonfire. Jake faithfully attended the "Tree of Memories" to show honour to his loved ones during the Christmas season. He was a good listener, always supportive, and compassionate to others in need. Jake was predeceased by his parents Peter (1985) and Anna (2004) Ewert. He was also predeceased by his sister Linda James (née Ewert) in 2000. Jake is survived by his brother and best friend David, as well as cousins he held dear to his heart. Jake is also fondly remembered by staff and customers at Fraser Auction, and friends made throughout his journey in life. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to all staff at ICU in the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care to Jake was greatly appreciated and a heartwarming blessing to us all. As well, thank you for the numerous acts of kindness and many condolences we have received at this time. In keeping with Jake's wishes, cremation has taken place.
