Obituary of Marjorie Ethel Chranowski

CHRANOWSKI: Marjorie Ethel Chranowski (née Pariseau) passed away peacefully at Valleyview Care Centre in Brandon on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Marjorie was born on January 15, 1918 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was the oldest of four children. Her primary school was "St. Albert's"; secondary school was "Hugh John MacDonald" and her high school was "Daniel McIntyre". In her early years, Marjorie worked at various jobs in Winnipeg until she gained full-time employment at Eaton's. She was involved with the church as a Sunday school teacher and helped her family. Marjorie remained a woman of faith all of her life. She once took a church sponsored trip down to Springfield, Missouri and would visit relatives in Chicago. Marjorie met and married John Chranowski in 1953. John worked for Canadian National Railway and they moved to Portage la Prairie, Conmee Junction (just outside of Thunder Bay), Fort William (currently Thunder Bay) and back to Winnipeg. She also worked as a receptionist at St. Joseph's residence in Winnipeg. Marjorie and John retired to Brandon in 1986. In Brandon, she was a member of the Catholic Women's League (C.W.L.). Marjorie enjoyed doing all sorts of crafts including needlepoint and her specialty, crocheting. She also loved baking, cooking, reading, visiting and entertaining. Marjorie and John did lots of little 'road trips' to places like the Morris Stampede or the Austin Thresherman's Reunion, but also travelled to California and Branson, Missouri. Marjorie loved to be surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. She was often heard saying "I've got the best family going!!" She was predeceased by her husband, John; parents Gordon and Ethel Pariseau; brother Bert (May) and sisters Alva and Audrey and grandson, Winston. She is survived by son, Daniel (Mila) and grandchildren, Deanna and Ryan and daughter, Debra (Scott Coburn) and grandson, Christopher (Deanne) and brothers-in-law, Edgar Wilson and Richard Askew. We want to thank family and friends for their love and support throughout Marjorie's life. A special 'thank you' goes to Valleyview Care Centre, especially third floor staff, for their kindness and compassion. A Funeral Service was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Kelly Wilson officiating.
