Obituary of Doris Camilla McMullen

McMullen: Doris Camilla passed away with dignity at the Souris Hospital on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Doris was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on January 28, 1926. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Rod and her daughter Pauline Hayde of Auckland, New Zealand. She is survived by her loving family: son Peter (Donna) McMullen of High River, Alberta (Paul, Wyatt and Pearce McMullen); daughter Betty Ann (Glen) Hooke of Douglas, MB; grandchildren: Matthew (Jenn) Hooke (Savannah and Sienna) of Brandon, MB; Melanie (Jason) Peters (Jack and Sophie) of Oakville, MB and Marshall Hooke of Douglas, MB. Also surviving is Pauline's family in New Zealand: Tim, Jay and Adrianna (Ben, Jack and Austin). Her sister Jean Cleary and family of Needham, Massachusetts and brother Robert Fallon and family of Roxberry, Massachusetts. Mom was a homemaker; she took great pride in her home and was a wonderful cook and baker. She was an avid golfer (in earlier years) and some of her happiest times were spent golfing with family and friends. We are forever grateful to Dr. Cram; to all the nurses and student nurse Kaitlynn at the Souris Hospital for their compassion and excellent care of our Mom and the kindness and support given to us as a family. Mom's greatest gift was her faith. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, September 28, 2017 with Fr. Kelly Wilson as Celebrant. God saw you getting weary When a cure was not to be So he wrapped his arms around you And whispered come with me
