Obituary of Dr. Chris Mark Thorpe Beeston

BEESTON: It is with heavy hearts yet beautiful memories that we announce the passing of Dr. Christopher Mark Thorpe Beeston. After a courageous battle against prostate cancer, Chris passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Stacey and three kids, Cailen, Luka, and Greer; his parents, Bill and Val Beeston of Victoria B.C.; his sisters, Sarah (Gregore) and Nicola (Sylvan) of Victoria B.C., brother Adrian (Sarah) of Spain, in-laws Barb and Larry Cassin of Dauphin, sister in-law Jamie Grouette (Kenny) of Dauphin, and nieces and nephews Zach, Kyan, James, Anika, Finn, Tahlia, Ben, Bella, Pierra, Jonathan and Elliott. Chris was born January 5, 1974 in Nanaimo B.C. After graduating from St. Michael's private school he went on to undergraduate studies at Queen's University. From there, he moved to Ireland to attend medical school. He moved back to Canada in order to undertake his family medicine residency in Dauphin, MB. There, he met his future wife Stacey and together, they moved to Ste. Rose du Lac for one and a half years before moving to Brandon, MB where they ultimately settled as a family. Chris succeeded in challenging the emergency medicine exam and soon found himself as the head of the emergency department at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. On behalf of Chris's entire family, our deepest gratitude and thanks are extended to all of the staff at Cancer Care Brandon, the Assiniboine Centre, the emergency department at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon Fire and Emergency Services, and to the community of Brandon. Your outpouring of love and support right from day one was astounding, deeply humbling, and forever appreciated. Chris was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, doctor, and friend. He lived life to the fullest extent, cherished each moment, and would encourage everyone to do the same. He would ask that we lead with kindness in everything we do. A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Central United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beeston Kid's Activity Fund at the Royal Bank in Brandon, Royal Bank of Canada, 661- 18th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 5B3.
