RUSKIN: Kenneth "Ken" Ruskin of Brandon, passed away peacefully at his residence of Rideau Park Personal Care Home, on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the age of 71 years. He was born on December 21, 1945. Ken was raised in Souris, MB by his grandparents John & Jessie Burnett. Ken was one of the oldest cousins that everyone looked up to. Growing up he enjoyed many sports including hockey, football and baseball. Ken moved to Brandon at the age of 18 and later began his career with MB Hydro. The Brandon Generating Station was his second home as a Control Room Operator for 40 years before he retired. Ken, often referred to as "Moose", had a lot of great co-workers over the years that he kept in touch with. Once retirement set in Ken could be found at Tim Horton's or McDonalds shooting the breeze with many good friends discussing the highlights of a game or current world events. His love for sports continued where he coached baseball and competed in numerous curling bonspiels. He was an avid Brandon Wheat King fan and season ticket holder for numerous years. Once sons Darcy and Jody were born Ken became actively involved in their sports. The boys fondly remember Ken rarely missing a game. Ken was so proud of his sons! Ken was described by many as one of the nicest people you will ever meet and will be remembered for his kind and caring nature. Ken is survived by his sons Darcy (Asha) and Jody Ruskin, as well as multiple extended family members and friends who had a special place in Ken's heart. Ken was predeceased by parents Ernest Ruskin and Margaret (nee Burnett) Ruskin.
