Obituary of Robert Victor Frank Bachinski

BACHINSKI: Robert (Bob) Victor Frank Bachinski passed away peacefully at the age of 81 years on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with his loving wife Shirley at his side. Bob was born at home on April 1, 1936 in Brandon, MB to Frank and Min Bachinski. His parents and two sisters Elaine and Darlene predeceased him. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley, who he married on December 29, 1975; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Stewart Archibald. In his youth, Bob played hockey and curled. Baseball and hockey remained his passions in his later years. He and Shirley enjoyed many years as season ticket holders of the Brandon Wheat Kings and Bob enjoyed nothing more than watching curling and baseball on television. His team was the Toronto Blue Jays and watching them play in Minneapolis was a treasured highlight. As a youth, he played the accordion. Bob was an entrepreneur; he started Superior Printing in his parents' garage and later owned and operated House of Instant Printing on Victoria Avenue until his retirement. Family and friends were of importance and pride and he took immense interest in the lives of his various nieces and nephews and their families. Bob took great pride in his yard and growing tomatoes in his backyard patio garden. He and Shirley spent a number of enjoyable extended trips in Yuma, Arizona and Palm Springs, California until their health curtailed their travels. A private family interment at Rosewood Memorial Gardens has taken place. A memorial reception to celebrate Bob's life was held at the Victoria Inn on Friday, January 5, 2018. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3 as a gesture of appreciation by the family for the care he received.
