Obituary of Norris Joynt

JOYNT: Norris Hindle Joynt passed away peacefully at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, MB on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Norris was born on April 30, 1928 in Griswold, MB to George and Etta Joynt, the youngest of ten children. Norris was pre-deceased by his parents; brothers Ritchie, Ivan, Irvin, Ike and Jimmy; sisters Pearl, Mary, Beth and Mardie and in-laws George and Jessie Haycock. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgina, children Kim, Darrell, Sheldon and George, six granddaughters and 12 great grandchildren, all very dear to his heart. Norris owned and operated the Poolroom and Barbershop in Griswold for many years before working for Massey Ferguson in Brandon. He ended his working career after 26 years with the MB Dept. of Highways. After retiring in 1985, Norris began pursuing his passion for antiques and collectibles. Throughout his life, Norris had an avid enthusiasm for hockey. He was a player and a minor league coach. Norris was a Brandon Wheat King fan for many years, attending his first Memorial Cup in 1949 and every cup that Brandon played in since. A Memorial Service for Norris will be held at Griswold United Church on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m with Rev. Don Sellsted officiating. Interment to follow at Griswold Cemetery. Lunch will follow at Griswold Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Norris may be made to the Griswold United Church c/o Dorothy Willman, Box 41, Griswold, MB, R0M 0S0.
