Mary Feeney

Obituary of Mary Feeney

FEENEY: Mary Feeney (née Friesen). On Monday, January 8, 2018, with family by her side, our cherished mom, grandma and great-grandma, Mary Feeney, passed away at the age of 82 years at the Valley View Care Centre in Brandon, MB. Mary was born to Peter and Elisabeth Friesen, on October 7, 1935. Mom grew up on a farm in the district of Rosengard, where she also attended school. She was a very hard worker, but spoke many times of how she looked forward to weekend barn dances. At 18, she moved to Winnipeg to begin a life on her own. On a blind date roller-skating she met the love of her life, our Dad, Dennis Feeney. Moving from province to province with the military, Mom and Dad finally settled their family in Brandon, MB where they would spend the remainder of their lives. Mom was very social and loved to have fun. She played darts, shuffleboard and curled competitively with Dad, bringing home many trophies. We as a family grew up playing cards and card games. Mom loved food and loved to cook. Never could anyone drop in without being fed. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens and would spend hours just enjoying the outdoors. Mom loved life and never complained about what she didn't have; she always had enough with family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and grandogs. All spouses were loved the same; she was "Mom" to all, friends and family! Mom was the centre of our family and was happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her children: daughter Ellen (Mark) Webb, grandchildren Todd (Jenna) Stewart, Alycia Webb (Tyler Sas), Michael (Chelsea) Webb; son Craig Feeney, grandson Aric Heaman; daughter Jane Feeney (Glenn Munro), grandson Andrew Feeney (Melissa Hannah); daughter Brenda (Doug) Doan, granddaughters Jennifer (Grant) Smith, Sarah (Doug) Stewart, Jessica MacDonald (Kyle Johnston); son Kevin (Gail) Feeney, grandson Kaley Etheridge (Chenise Norrad); ten great grandchildren; brothers: Jake (Betty) Friesen, Alvin (Emily) Friesen; sisters: Elma (Eddie) Banman, Ann Brouillette, Erna (Don) Sobering; sisters-in-law Liz Friesen, Charlene Warboys and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Feeney, parents Peter and Elisabeth Friesen, sister Betty Hildebrand, brothers Henry Friesen, Peter Friesen and Dyck Friesen, mother-in-law Ruth Feeney and brothers-in-law John Warboys and Leo Brouillette and sister-in-law Diane Friesen. A Memorial Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, Brandon, MB on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to charity of choice.
