Obituary of Norma Elizabeth Bileski

BILESKI: Norma Elizabeth Bileski (Carey) of Brandon, Manitoba, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Assiniboine Centre on February 27, 2018 at the age 82 years. Norma was born in 1935 to Kate Carey (Smith) and Ford Carey in the Municipality of Morton (near Boissevain, MB) and had lived most of her adult life in Brandon. Norma was a local artist and was a founding member of the Palette (art) Club. She volunteered for many years assisting with the art/painting group at the Prairie Oasis Senior Centre. She participated in several juried art shows and was picked for showing several times. Her work was also shown in the Brandon Art Gallery. In her early years, she worked as a hairdresser for Nu Fashion hair salon in Brandon, MB. She was also a member of HydroX, as her husband worked for Manitoba Hydro for 35 years. Norma was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Anne Carey, Robert Carey, Milton Carey and Eva Foster (Fred Foster), and by her husband, Metro Bileski. Norma is survived by her daughters, Kimberley Bileski (Brent Holton) and Allynne Bileski, both of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Norma had a kind and loving heart and will be missed by family and friends greatly. A Celebration of Norma's Life was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Norma may be made to Prairie Oasis Senior Centre, 241 8th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 3X2 or Heart & Stroke Foundation, Unit 3-2430 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB, R7B 0M5 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4A9.
