Obituary of Larry Dunn

DUNN: Larry Robert "Sr". Larry passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the age of 70 years. Larry was born October 18, 1947, in Russell, Manitoba to Beatrice Sarah Hertlein (Dunn). Larry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family: son, Larry "Jr" (Richelle) and his children Emily and Matthew; daughter, Cindi and her children Kimberly, Suzanne, Josette, Brennan, Ashleigh, Erin and Calvin; daughter, Gail (Robert) and their sons Justin, Zachary and Joshua and 13 Great Grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his step-father Chris Hertlein as well as brothers: Perry (Dorcie); Randy (Linda); Kelly (Geraldine) and families. Larry was predeceased by his mother Beatrice and her parents Robert and Jessie Dunn. Larry grew up in Inglis, Manitoba; the eldest of four sons. He enjoyed playing hockey and baseball during his younger years. Dad was never one for indoor activity, mostly outdoors as he loved fishing, hunting, camping and working on vehicles; especially getting ready for demolition derbies which he grew to love. A man of many hobbies; his most favourite was woodworking. He especially enjoyed making unique pieces for family, cradles for babies and toys for grandchildren. Dad spent the last year at the Assiniboine Centre where he got to know many of the Staff and Nurses. A lot of nurses enjoyed his laughter and smiles and he always expressed how he appreciated the help and kindness of the staff at the Assiniboine Centre. The family would like to extend their thanks, appreciation and dedication they had while caring for Dad during his time at the Assiniboine Centre. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Rosewood Gardens in Brandon, Manitoba with Rachelle Wilk, Assiniboine Centre Spiritual Care Provider officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow. Location to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's Memory may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation "Assiniboine Centre, A2 and/or A3", 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
