Obituary of Jean Anne VanTeeling

VANTEELING: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother Jean Anne VanTeeling at her residence (Hillcrest Place) on Sunday, March 25, 2018. Jean was a devoted mother with her focus on family. She was born October 6, 1927 in Carnegie, Manitoba to Anthony and Frances Gonroski. In 1944, the family moved to Brandon where she lived the rest of her life. In October of 1954, she married her husband Gerry. They were blessed with three children born between 1959 – 1964. Kathy in April 1959, Margo in July 1962 and Gerald (Guy) in December 1964. Together Gerry and Jean started the Dutch Mill Bakery on Rosser Avenue in October of 1956 which they operated for the next 38 years. After her family Jean loved spending time in her garden. In 1967, they purchased property at Minnedosa (Brandosa Beach) and spent the next 39 happy summers there. Jean loved her cottage and also her little garden there. The long winters were broken up by the many trips Gerry and Jean took to Maui. Jean is survived by her husband Gerry, daughters Kathy and Margo Toovey (Bill), son Guy (Heather), grandchildren Britney Toovey (husband Jon Temple), Marisa Toovey, Mitchell and Reagan VanTeeling. A private family interment will follow at a later date. The family wishes to thank everyone at Hillcrest Place for the excellent care provided to our mother over the last few years. Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
