Obituary of Aaron William McKay

McKay: Aaron William "Wasoon Hokshida" began his journey to join his relatives, at the Last Camp, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon, Manitoba surrounded by family. Aaron was born on April 8, 1940 on the Oak River Reserve (Sioux Valley Dakota Nation). He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Sandra, sons Dale (Natalie) and Derek Baker (Kaitlyn), siblings Marshall, Lena (Glen), Franklin (Jackie), Ken (Carrie), Heather, Wayne (Giovanna) Wasicuna, sisters-in-law Margaret Roscelli and Olga Wasteste, brother-in-law Ronald "Luke" Bone, grandons Shane (Chantel) Taylor, Talon, Tristan, Jonah Halfe, Zephran "Tex" Bone, great granddaughters Jyael and Rexylynn, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and relatives. He was predeceased by his son, William, parents Eric and Rachel McKay and father John Wasicuna. A Service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Sioux Valley Veterans Hall on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. for traditional services. A Funeral Service will be held at the Sioux Valley Veterans Hall at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Sioux Valley Anglican Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Virden Hospital, Brandon Regional Health Centre – 4th Floor and the Palliative Care Unit. "Strength, what it means to me….looking at someone you love through tear filled eyes and they tell you, "I'm ok," with a smile and say, prayer is all we have. Strength is the ability to preserve through tough times without complaint…"
