Obituary of Evelyn Gartz

GARTZ: Evelyn Gartz (Honke) passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the age of 85. She was born on October 11, 1932 in Whitemouth, Mb. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Ben, adopted son Wilf, parents Edward and Hulda, sister Mrytle, brother Clarence and sister-in-law Bernice Honke. She will be lovingly remembered by brothers: Ben, Arllen, Melvin, Lawrence (Rose), sisters: Jeanette (Lloyd), Mildred (Victor) and Betty (Gordon) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Evelyn and Ben owned Ben & Ev's Grocery on 10th Street and then on Lorne Ave. E in Brandon. In 1979, they moved to Brooks, Alberta where they operated the Dairy Queen and Taco Time with Wilf. Over the years Evelyn and Ben had travelled to many places. She loved doing puzzles and crosswords. A Celebration of Evelyn's Life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 114 Ashgrove Blvd, Brandon, Mb on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Laurel Seyfert officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Brooks, Alberta. The family would like to thank all the staff at Dinsdale PCH for their loving care of Evelyn. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Memorial Fund, 114 Ashgrove Blvd, Brandon, Mb, R7B 1E1 or a charity of choice.
