Obituary of Louis "Lou" Deeley

DEELEY: Louis Calvin Deeley of Brandon, MB passed away at at Dinsdale Personal Care Home on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the age of 86 years. Lou was born on April 12, 1932 at home in Tilston, Manitoba, where he attended school into his early teens. Lou left school to help support his family. He worked for local farmers and CP Rail until at the age of nineteen. He then went on to work for Lake of The Woods Elevators at Tilston for nine years. Later, Dad went to work for Manitoba Pool Elevators, with his last move to the Foxwarren Pool in 1968. This is where Lou and Mavis raised their boys. Lou retired at age 60, after 33 years with the company. They then moved to Morris, MB in 1992, and then to Brandon, MB in 1997. Lou enjoyed dancing, cribbage, bowling, fishing, curling, working at the Foxwarren Falcon hockey games, and golfing with two holes-in-one under his belt. Lou very much adored all of his grandkids and great-grandkids, and loved their visits. Lou served as a Mason and later as a Kiwanis member, delivering meals on wheels and taking part as a driver for Operation Red Nose. Lou is survived by his wife of 64 years Mavis (Peacock), his three sons: Calvin (Teresa), Mark, Mike (Melinda), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and sister Kay (Pat) Cairns. Lou is predeceased by his parents Albert and Annie Deeley, sister Dora (Art) Moir and brother George (Bud). As Lou wished, a private graveside ceremony and lunch will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018. The Family would like to thank the staff of Brandon Hospital, Assiniboine Centre, Hillcrest Personal Care and Dinsdale Personal Care for all of their kind support and caring.
