Obituary of Richard Hunt

HUNT: The passing of Richard Charles Robert Hunt, Husband of Karen Hunt and the late Beth Hunt, occurred on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Richard was born in Brandon on June 5th, 1950, the oldest child and only son of the late Charles and Doris Hunt. He had two sisters, Judy Huzzey (Arthur) and Patty Griffith (Grant). Richard completed his schooling in Brandon and followed in his father's footsteps by attending a barbering school in Winnipeg where he became one of the last Master Barbers. Once he completed his barbering school, he joined the family business of Flash Barber and Beauty Salon that was located on 10th Street in Brandon. He eventually took the business over to be self-employed. On July 21st, 1973, he married the first love of his life, Beth. Together, they created three lights of their lives, twins Robert (Rosanne, kids Benjamin and Paige), Ryan (Lori, kids Cole, Dreighten, and Evance), and Kelly (Greg, kids Avrey, Hannah, and Hunter). When Beth was tragically taken from the family in 2002, the next loving chapter of Richards's life began. He married the second love of his life, Karen, on December 24th, 2005. With Karen, the family he loved got even bigger with stepson, Richard, stepdaughter Elizabeth (Kevin, kids Bryce and Adlee), and stepson John (Erin, kids Lily and Lucas). Richard was a loving man who had a heart of gold. His door was always open to friends, adoptees (Nick and Charity) and family. He loved to entertain, cooking his famous barbecued ribs for anyone that would come!! His pride and joy was his family! He always loved when his house was full of people! Yet, he also enjoyed the quiet times out at the house and when he went camping with Karen! He volunteered his services in many ways, some being with UCT (often calling the Bingo), COPP, and as a projectionist with the Brandon Film Festival. The service to celebrate Richards's life will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne, officiating.
