Obituary of Walter "Wally" Rosmus

On June 28th, 2018 at Rideau Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba Walter aged 77 years passed away peacefully. Walter was born on November 21st, 1940 in Selkirk, Manitoba and was raised on the family farm in Melrose, Manitoba also known as Cooks Creek. Walter was pre-deaced by his parents Walter and Katherine Rosmus, sister Jean Farion, brother Casey Rosmus, son Robbie Rosmus, special friend Rachel Stevenson, granddaughter Crystal Bear. He leaves to mourn his four daughters, Kathy Rosmus (Wade), Michelle Rosmus (Jeff) of Brandon, Mb, Denise Tacan of Wahpeton, Sk. and Lynn Bear of Peguis, Mb, brother Ted (Teddy) Rosmus of Melrose, Mb. 13 grandchildren Braydon Whitecloud, Amanda Hallett, Dillon Star, Shannen Daniels, Thomas Rosmus, Brock Rosmus, Staci Rosmus, Brett Morgan, Darcy Bear, Franklin Bear, Mitana Taylor, Rhys Rosmus, Mya Rosmus and the numerous Stevenson grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him. Walters early years he worked as a drywaller which took him too many provinces to work, one being Brandon, Mb. This is where he met Amelia, courted and married in 1964 and then having three children Rob, Kathy and Michelle. The move to Winnipeg later saw him and Amelia separated and they both continued on with their lives. Walter later met Rachel, spending 25 plus years together. Walter continued his work as a drywaller, teaching his son Robbie the trade in his early years. Walters's retirement moved him to Peguis, Manitoba where they opened The Buck Stop restaurant for a few years. Closing of the restaurant only meant more free time to do more of what he enjoyed such as visiting friends, family, yard sailing and bingo. Those who knew Walter knew him to always be in a rush to go where ever it was or where it might have been. Shortly after Rachel's passing Walter moved back to Brandon to be with his daughters Kathy and Michelle. He enjoyed being in the presence of his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom brought him much joy. He enjoyed his independent living at Kin Village, visiting and drinking coffee. Walter found comfort in the Brandon Vineyard enjoying songs and hymns over some small talk with the locals. Walter will be remembered as a loving father, having a great sense of humour, and his kindness and generosity to all who knew him. The Service for Walter will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, Brandon, Mb, on Thursday, July 5th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Creary and Rev. Lynn Creary officiating.
