Andrew Clark

Obituary of Andrew Clark

I am saddened to have to announce the death of my son, Andrew James Clark, at the age of 44 years. Andrew passed away of a heart attack in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, BWI on Monday, July 9, 2018. He leaves behind his mother Mavis; brothers: Robert (Tara); Gordon (Kelsey); fiancé Rebecca; five special nieces: Mackenzie, Macailyn, Sydney, Lindsay and Madeleine, and nephew Rowan will miss him. He was predeceased by his sister JoAnn; his father Robert (Bob), and all of his grandparents: Allison (Chapman-Pippy) and Walter Chapman; Ada and Fraser Clark. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Andrew was born in Scarborough, Ontario and lived his first five years in Ontario where he was the first in the family to go to pre-school at the age of four. Following a move to Brandon, Manitoba in 1979, he attended elementary school at Meadows and high school at Vincent Massey High School achieving Honours at graduation and receiving a bursary in 1991. After high school, he went straight to work in computer service in Brandon and then on to Winnipeg a year later to achieve higher challenges. In 2000, he was hired by Microsoft International who saw potential in him even without a University degree and was sent to Washington, D.C., where they found that he did need a degree to satisfy the government issuing his green card. So, a University was chosen and he was challenged by a panel of testers from New Jersey University where he amazed them and they issued a degree of Masters in Computer Science. He became a proficient Architect of programming and also challenged himself in Architecting New Homes a few years later where he achieved building a Geo-Thermal Home in a new suburb of Winnipeg. He was very instrumental in Microsoft when 9/11 occurred in 2001, when the pentagon was hit by a plane and Microsoft had to reconstruct their computer security. That was a very challenging time in his life as the green card was put on hold and he wasn't allowed to leave the country, nor were we allowed to visit him. Fear challenged all of us at that time, but, we soon put that behind us when he was sent back to Manitoba with Microsoft for another 5 years in 2005. In 2013, he had designed and launched a new internet-based business and then moved to Providenciales. He established himself there, renting for two years then applying for residency and finally buying a condo three years ago. He was always exploring new places such as Iceland, Spain, Morocco, Italy, Scotland and this year said he wanted to go to France and Greece. He also took training in scuba diving and loved swimming in the waters off Mexico and Turks and Caicos. He was proud of what he had accomplished in life and wanted to show his mother his new home and the azure, blue waters he was living near and invited her down to the Caribbean this year in March for two weeks to be shown as much as possible and meet all his new friends. I was honoured and thankful to have had that special time with him. The Lord was good! God Bless you Andrew! You will be greatly missed by all. We would like to thank all the Royal Turks and Caicos Police Force, the legal counsel, Corey's Funeral Chapel, Brockie Donovan Funeral Chapel and all the friends and family instrumental in helping me get him repatriated home. A Funeral Service will be held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Drive, Brandon, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Andrew would not have wanted any of us to mourn his death as he was so compassionate about helping others in this world and would want us to do the same. Please send any donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Unit 3-2430 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB, R7B 0M5 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Blvd, Winnipeg, R3P 0Y4; or any charitable organization of your choice.
