Obituary of John Walter Zavislak

ZAVISLAK: John Walter Zavislak passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the age of 82 years. John was born on September 20, 1935 on the family farm to Frank and Pearl Zavislak. John lived his early years on the farm while he attended Cornwallis School. Years later John moved to Brandon, but his passion for the farm, heavy equipment and trucks remained fierce. John spent the next 30 years helping with the family farm, from sunrise to sunset, never missing a single day. John had an extraordinary sense of home and family. This was very apparent, after Pearl went into a personal care home John continued to help his Dad operate the family farm until Dad's passing. After his Dad's passing John made the decision to sell his house in Brandon and relocate back to the family farm, where he operated the farm as well as his construction company "Zavislak Transfer and Well Drilling" for 50 plus years. John was a die-hard about his equipment and even right up until his passing he was on the phone buying parts. John was the type of man if someone needed help, if he could he would. Like everyone in life, he survived his share of hurt and injuries, but he had what seemed to be a natural ability to forgive. John taught us all that we will go through storms in life but no matter how little or big the storm may be the sun will always shine again. John was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Pearl and brother Lloyd. He will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers were Ed Gilbert, Fred Gilbert, Bernard Pritchard, William Pritchard, Dwight Edwards and Ray McAuley. Honorary pallbearers were Jack McKee, Ken Lemaire, Jeff Zavislak, Rob Zavislak, John Edwards and Vernon Kalmakoff. We would like to extend a thank you to the Brandon Regional Health Centre "Renal Unit" for their compassion while caring for John. We will forever appreciate your kindness.
