Dear Gwen, Greg, Judy, Darcy and the whole Hickson family. I was saddened to hear of Ernie's death. I always loved seeing Ernie and Gwen at various functions throughout the years and I remember him from my "younger" days, always with a small (and usually a joke or a kind word). Hello Gwen, Greg, Judy, Darcy and families. Ernie meant a lot to so many as we all share in the loss of your loved one. Ernie was a special friend and neighbor to me and our family in those early years which we were able to keep going over all these years since I left the farm in 1972. The sharing of Christmas cards over those years with both us packing in so many lies over just a few sentences, always looking forward to writing next years and receiving next year's card. The one year I learned how Ernie was 'not' that fond of Elvis Prestley's music, sooo, on one Christmas I sent him an Elvis LP record. The following year I received along with a Christmas card small pieces of a vinyl record. I know, the roar of laughter echoed in both households. Our sympathy to all but know that all of you have been blessed to have some of your dad's traits to carry on. We are all, also blessed in having a husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and ourselves in having such a friend as Ernie Hickson. God Bless you all as we share in your grief but also your celebration of a very special man on this day. He will be truly missed.

My condolences to Gwen, Greg, Judy, Darcy and the rest of the family. I have fond memories of Uncle Ernie, the farm and Hickson family reunions. While I was young at the time, it was my sense that Uncle Ernie was the driving force behind the reunions in the 70s and 80s and that he really enjoyed getting everyone together.
