Obituary of Carol Ann Stiles

STILES: Carol Ann Stiles passed peacefully with family by her side at the age of 73 on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Assiniboine Centre. Born in 1944, she grew up in Brandon where she lived with her parents and two younger siblings who were, from time to time joined by various cousins, aunts and uncles. In her late teens, she met her husband of 55 years, John, and the two married in 1963. She had a few jobs in her time but most of her working years were spent at Brandon General Hospital in the Radiology Department. Outside of work, Carol was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed many years of traveling around the area watching her children, nephews, nieces, other family and friends compete in horse shows and rodeos. She was a groomer, chauffeur and one-woman cheering section for all she loved! Through this time, she became involved in the Provincial Exhibition, served many roles over the years and was ultimately appointed as the first female President of the Board in the groups 124 year history. As retirement came, Carol enjoyed more time with her family, golfing, boating at Clear Lake, winters in Arizona and to the surprise of most, took up riding a horse of her own. Carol was strong, determined, clear and kind hearted. She loved children, connected easily, would tell you what she thought you needed to hear and lived life to the fullest. Our individual memories of times with Carol are endless and we are blessed to carry these in our hearts through our lives and to pass down as well. Carol was predeceased by her parents Mike and Margaret, her brother Steve and tragically her son Todd. Left to cherish wonderful memories are her husband John; her daughter Tracie (Stephen); grandchildren Tessa and Brandon; sister Patty; special cousin "Cookie" and extended family and friends through the years – too numerous to mention but not to be forgotten. She also leaves behind her beloved Shih Tzu, Bubba, and horse, Roannie. A Celebration of Carol's Life will be held at the Central United Church, 327-8th Street, on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
