Obituary of Robert James Stewart

STEWART: Robert "Bob" James Stewart, 75, of Griswold, MB, passed away on January 4, 2019 at home. The son of James Robert and Mary (McKinnon) Stewart, Bob was born on May 29, 1943. He was raised on the family farm, which was homesteaded by his grandfather, where he called home his whole life. Bob attended Griswold country school and completed his welding certificate in Winnipeg. On April 27, 1974, Bob married Rita Pouteau in Mariapolis, MB. They lived in the century-old home on the family farm where they raised three children: Brenda, Bonnie, and James. During his life he farmed, welded, and developed a knack for fixing anything and everything; the older, the better. He enjoyed attending threshing events and auction sales, and collecting antique...everything. No matter how old, how rusty, or how ceased - he could get it running. Friends and neighbours always knew where to go for a repair or a part. Bob is survived by his wife, Rita and his children Brenda Huesers, Garrison, ND, Bonnie Stewart, Winnipeg, MB, and James Stewart, Griswold, MB; grandchildren Ashley, Haley, Tyler Huesers, and Riley Schulz, Garrison, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Stewart and his son-in-law, William Huesers. A private interment was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Griswold Cemetery followed by a commemoration of his life at the Griswold Community Hall.
