April was born to Paul and Anna Edwards in Melita, MB., she lived in various locations before her family settled in Brandon, MB. Her early years involved many adventures including frequent visits with her maternal grandparents Tom and Pearl Lockhart, of which she always spoke fondly. April married Richard Osterbeck on June 6, 1964 and they moved to their own farm north of Antler, SK. April embraced the challenges of living on a farm, being a city girl up until then. In 1965, they welcomed a daughter, Paulette, followed by sons Wayne in 1967, and Sean in 1968. In 1969, they made the decision to move their young family to Brandon, MB., where she lived until her passing. She was a lifelong homemaker but volunteered outside the house in many capacities including coaching her sons within Brandon Minor Baseball, where she won city-wide championships as head coach. In 1986, April and Richard invested in Cumming & Dobbie, and eventually became the sole owners. She was well known for her cooking and baking, her bread, pies and other desserts, will be missed by her family. She liked to crochet quilts and sweaters and wrote short stories and poetry, which she kept to herself. April's grandchildren Paul and Anna became the light of her life in her later years and always enjoyed spending time either visiting with Paul, or watching Anna dance. April and Richard have for many years spent their winters in Yuma, AZ. where they owned a vacation property, and where April developed great friendships and a love for bingo. April suffered many health related issues throughout her life but passed away peacefully in her sleep. April was predeceased by her daughter Paulette (Al) Shewfelt, parents Anna and Paul Edwards, and her twin sisters Clara Bahlawan and Carol Bisson.
