Obituary of Dorothy Eilien Moore

MOORE: It is with great sadness the family of Dorothy Moore share the news of her passing on March 10, 2019 at the age of 91 at Fairview Home. Dorothy was born in the RM of Boulton, near Inglis on June 21, 1927 to Mae and Harrison Muir. They moved to Russell, Manitoba when Mom was three. On February 22, 1946 she married the love of her life, our Father, Arthur Moore. In the fifty-three years of their marriage, they raised six daughters and three sons. Mom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Pat (Barry), Carolyn (Greg), Mickey (Doug), Doug (Norine), Brenda (Richard), Linda, Gary, Tracey, and daughter-in-law, Dianne (Elwin), twenty grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Arthur, son Don, sons-in-law Dwight, Charlie, and Harry, and grand-daughters Megan and Makaja. Growing up, Mom loved riding horses and helping on the farm. She loved to sing and yodel. Mom and Dad loved to travel. They enjoyed camping and they were especially fond of going out west in their "caravans" with their sons and daughters. Mom was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #3, Army and Navy, Unit #10, and Crocus Seniors Club. Mom loved her bingo, shuffleboard, and cribbage. Mom touched many lives, and those that knew her, came to respect her sense of humour, as well as her love and commitment towards family and friends. She will be remembered for her quiet, gentle, and caring nature as well as the example she set through her strength, courage, and dignity. The family is grateful for the wonderful care and kindness Mom received from the staff at Fairview. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Groves, Dr. Davis, and Elaine Butler from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #3 for all the times she came to visit Mom. She really enjoyed the visits. There will be a service held at a later date.
