Obituary of Agnes Fraser

FRASER: Agnes Clyne Fraser, loving wife of Ted Fraser and mother of Alex and Stan Fraser from Fleming Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the Dinsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba in her 103 year. She was born in 1916 at Kenton, Manitoba. Daughter of Alex and Peggy Stewart, she was raised in Oxbow, Saskatchewan district with nine brothers and two sisters. Agnes worked hard from an early age due to necessity, however, she had a very happy childhood filled with music and good memories. The Stewart family had their own dance band and entertained throughout the country. Her nine brothers had their own ball team for a few years until the war broke out and five of her brothers served, with two of them not returning. Agnes was predeceased by her Mother, Father, all of her siblings and her husband Teddy. Agnes married Edwin (Teddy) Fraser from Fleming, Saskatchewan and they raised their two sons on the family farm there. She was actively involved in the United Church (UCW), was very community minded, and enjoyed her curling, even participating in Provincials. She was involved in concerts, talent shows and many community events. Agnes played in a local dance band for many years. As well as being a busy farmers wife, Agnes drove school bus for many years watching many neighbours children grow up. Her many relatives spent time on the farm during summer holidays, Christmases or any excuse to see and spend time with her. Upon retiring Agnes and Teddy moved into Moosomin, Saskatchewan where she continued to participate in Church choirs and functions. Agnes was a loving and caring person, very welcoming and outgoing. You could never get near her house without having a cup of tea or a meal. She was well known for her pastries and amazing butter tarts. In 1990, Agnes and Teddy moved to Brandon, Manitoba to be near family and enjoyed time together until 1998 when Teddy passed away. Agnes was very fortunate to live a majority of her life around her family, enjoying her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also was very fortunate to live a very happy and healthy life, having very few ailments over her life span. Agnes spent the last ten years of her life in Dinsdale Personal Care Home where she made many new friends both residents and staff. She was a live wire with a hug and a smile for everyone. She adored the caregivers and had nothing but praise for the love, care and attention she received. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Agnes may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4A9.
