Obituary of Leslie Kerbis

KERBIS: Leslie (Les) Alan Kerbis passed away suddenly on April 23, 2019 at the age of 58 years at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.

Les was born in Brandon, Manitoba on January 6, 1961 to Betty (Pomeroy) and Roy Kerbis and was soon joined by sisters, Rhonda and Terry. The Kerbis family remained in Brandon until Les was 13 years old when they moved to Souris, MB. He attended the Souris High School where he played football. He developed a love of baseball, playing in many tournaments and eventually playing in the Senior Men's league with the Souris Cardinals. He began working at the City of Brandon Central Garage in 1980 and moved to Streets and Roads later in his career. He worked for the City of Brandon for 32 years before retiring in January of 2012. After retirement, Les worked with friend, Jim Russett, at Russet Transmission Shop until his cancer diagnosis in August 2018.

Les married Susan (Reynolds) in September 1982 and they were joined by daughter Ashley in 1984 and then Jenna in 1987. Les was a man of few words but those who knew him knew how much he loved his three girls and grandchildren. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.

Les is predeceased in death by his father Roy Kerbis. He is survived by his wife Susan and daughters Ashley (Bryan) Barnesky and Jenna (Todd) Score. Les was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren, Jaxon Barnesky, Samuel Pacheco, Liam Score, Owen Score, Destin Barnesky and Kiyara Barnesky. He also leaves his mother Betty Clevett, and sisters Rhonda (Peter) Guenther and Terry (Gordon) Smith.

A Celebration of Les' Life was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Les may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Ave., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
