Obituary of Ralph Ward

WARD: Ralph. At the age of 85 years, after a battle with illness, Ralph passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Ralph was born in Brandon on September 28, 1933 to Winnifred (Tucker) and Harold Ward and was the second youngest of four siblings; Ken, Joyce and Glen. Ralph was predeceased by his parents and brother, Ken. Ralph lived most of his life in Brandon and raised five sons; Dennis, Ron, Gary, Todd, Kelly and stepson, Brent. In his younger years, Ralph enjoyed his time with the Sea Cadets and playing baseball with the Brandon Cloverleafs, especially with lifelong friend, Bill Mealy. He was also very proud of his time as a partner with Metals Industries and Canadian Brown Steel Tank. Later in life, Ralph met his special friend, Verna. Ralph and Verna had many years together with fond memories and Verna will certainly miss her "Ralphie," as will her family. He will also be missed by his Hillcrest family. The staff of Hillcrest welcomed Ralph with open arms, both as a visitor when he would spend much of his time there visiting Verna, and later on when he became a resident. Ralph knew how blessed he was to have his extended families and spoke fondly of all them often. A special thank you to Dr. Onita and the kind and caring staff of Hillcrest PCH, 400/500 Medicine and A3 Palliative for the exceptional care provided to Ralph. There will be no formal funeral service, as per Ralph's wishes and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph's memory can be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3 or a charity of your choice
