Obituary of Audrey Phillips

PHILLIPS: Audrey Mabel Phillips (nee Brownridge) of Brandon passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence, Valleyview Care Centre, on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Audrey would have celebrated 97 years in June. Audrey was born June 10, 1922 to Harold and Marguerite Brownridge (nee Merrell). There were nine children. Only three girls remain, Jean, Gwen and Shirley. This family moved frequently within the district and they finally settled close to Forrest, MB. There were always many chores to share with this large family. Audrey pitched in with laundry, tending to her siblings, sewing and berry picking. This started her interest in canning, gardening and cooking. Audrey and John met at one of the many dances that their group of friends attended. They married July 14, 1943 and took over John's family farm. There, Audrey enjoyed sewing, quilting, yard work and curling. They also enjoyed a few briars together. They had two children; Brian (Betty) and Marilyn (George), Grandchildren, Sean (Jackie), Trisha (Dave), Tracey (Daryl), and Sheri (Chris), Great Grandchildren, Brayden, Rhiannan, Brett, Darrys, DJ, Darci, Haylie and Alyssa. Audrey is predeceased by her parents Harold and Marguerite, siblings Bill, John, Mary, Keith and Murray, husband John and son Brian. Audrey enjoyed her time while at the Valleyview Care Centre. She was treated with the utmost respect and care. She became close with other residents and staff. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Brockie Donovan Chapel at 11:00 am with Rev. Barb Jardine officiating. A reception will follow at Prairie Oasis. A private family interment will take place following the reception. Donations in memory of Audrey may be made to a Charity of choice.
