Obituary of Todd Bullee

BULLEE: Todd Bullee, loving husband, father, son and brother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Todd was born on January 31, 1962 in Brandon, Manitoba; the third of six children to Harvey and Fay Bullee. They were a loving family that became known as the "Bullee Bunch". Todd and his family resided in Brandon, Manitoba throughout his life. As a young child Todd quickly showed his love for people and socializing. He spent countless hours in Carberry with his aunts, uncles, cousins and family; gathering for get togethers, pasture parties, snowmobiling, hunting and helping with harvest. Many days were spent with his family camping all over Manitoba, until the family decided to make Clear Lake their summer home. Many wonderful memories were created on the water; fishing, skiing and tubing. May long weekend became a tradition with Harvey and Fay opening their cottage to many friends and family. The excitement of May long became highly anticipated as the official kick off to summers filled with family, friends, campfires, shared laughs and a lot of music and singing. As a young boy Todd spent many hours tinkering and building model cars and planes. At the age of 16 he started spending more and more hours at his dads shop 'H Bullee and Sons Spring Service'. Todd graduated from Crocus Plains High School and attended Brandon University, at which time he discovered his love was at the shop working alongside his dad and uncles. Upon Harvey's retirement, Todd and his brother Brent became partners in the family business where Todd worked until he became ill. Todd was always a hands on guy with a great work ethic. His motto was "if you are going to do something, do it right." Todd could be found spending countless nights at the shop helping friends and even strangers fixing boats, cars, motors or anything else that needed repair. His selfless ways and bright smile rubbed off on all those around him. Todd met his soulmate and love of his life, Korinne, and the two were married on January 30th 1993. They happily celebrated their 26th anniversary this past year. They welcomed two beautiful daughters Laura and Jenna and together enjoyed creating many wonderful memories. With the Bullee family growing and their own love for the lake, Todd and Korinne, with the help of many friends and family, built their own cottage in Clear Lake in 1994. It was here that Todd spent countless hours teaching his girls to water ski, knee and wakeboard. Many days were spent as a family hiking, singing around campfires, and entertaining many friends and family. In the winter months, they loved snowmobiling, and downhill skiing at Banff and Ski Valley in Minnedosa. Todd enjoyed travelling and spent many memorable trips with his family and friends to many beautiful destinations. Todd was a true family man and leaves a legacy of love and integrity for his girls. He loved life and lived each day to the fullest with no regrets. Todd's love of life and community never wavered. He served on the South End Community Centre board for over 10 years. Todd raised money for over 20 years for Tia's Troop, rode and transported the bikes, set up and tore down, all in support of the Cerebral Palsy bike race. During his daughters' high school years Todd saw the passion and love they had for drama. It was then that he became involved as a volunteer at Neelin, building, setting up and taking down sets and chaperoning many choir trips. He was remembered for having hot breakfast sandwiches ordered and ready for the students and teachers boarding the bus for their road trips. Todd will be lovingly remembered by his daughters for his sense of humour and "geekiness". Together the three of them used their creativity to make costumes and share fun times at Comic-Con. Todd's passion for drama and singing led him to the stage many times. His thrill was sharing the stage with his daughters in some of the productions. He participated with the Assiniboine Theatre group as treasurer and a performer. He also assisted with the sets. His love of singing brought him to the men's choir Prairie Blend. Todd was known as an avid music lover and excelled as a guitar player. Although sports were not his thing, Todd played on mixed baseball and broomball leagues with Korinne. They shared many good times, laughs and fun with friends. Todd had a love of nature. His many fly in hunting trips were a highlight of his year. He felt at peace being in nature, enjoying the landscapes, the wildlife and the camaraderie of his good friends. Todd's other passion was restoring his classic powder blue Ford Bronco (a.k.a the powder blue dishwasher) and his Yellow Triumph Spitfire. He often displayed his Spitfire on many Cruise nights on Rosser Avenue. Todd also loved flying his model airplanes and helicopters. Todd's circle of friends was far reaching and many. He knew the importance of giving back to his community and always made sure everyone felt welcomed and loved. He will be missed; his kindness, warm smile and compassionate spirit will always be with us. Todd will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Korinne and his daughters Laura and Jenna. His mother and father Fay and Harvey; sisters: Sharon (John) Tropin; Tammy (Len) Drost; Rhonda Grambo (Scott); Kristine (Steve) Dryden; brother Brent (Cheryl) Bullee; in-laws Maureen and Shane Hunter; Bob and Connie Keddie and their families; many nieces and nephews; extended family as well as many close friends. A celebration of Todd's life was held at Central United Church on Thursday, June 27th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Todd may be made to the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or visit www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca. After Glow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.
