Obituary of Louise Kilborn

KILBORN: Louise Ellen Kilborn (Thompson) Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister. It is with deep sadness and sorrow we announce Louise's passing, much too soon, on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the age of 68 years. Louise was all about family, and together with Brian they raised three children Shelley, Christine, and Neil. Mom was a loving person, always there for her husband, children and grandsons. Brian and Louise celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year, together since the age of 15 years old; they dated for four years before marrying on February 15, 1969. Once married they moved from Neepawa, MB, to Brandon, MB to raise their children. In her early 30's, with three kids at home, Louise went back to college, earning her degree in Business Administration. After graduating she went to work at MillCo Steel until her retirement at age 60. Retirement allowed her to slow down and spend more time working on her miniatures. She was involved in the Miniature Club in Brandon, travelling and collecting tiny little treasures in various cities. During the summer, you would find her outside puttering in her yard, picking the weeds only she could see, as CBC played on the radio. When she wasn't in her backyard, you would find her at the lake resting on the deck, reading a book, watching the birds, visiting the neighbours, or just enjoying the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Louise was most proud of her two grandsons, Joel and Brent Pulver, and loved them with all her heart. She got great joy out of watching them play their sports and was always happy to cheer them on. Even as they grew older, she always wanted to hear about what was happening in their lives, sharing stories of their adventures with the neighbours, and at the same time making sure they didn't miss any family functions. Louise was preceded in death by her mother and father Doreen and Charles Thompson and brothers Neil and Ken Thompson. She is survived by her husband Brian Kilborn; daughters: Shelley (Chris) Doan and Christine Kilborn; her son Neil Kilborn and her grandsons Joel and Brent Pulver; as well as her sister Grace (Bob) Denis and brothers John (Anna-Lynn) and Rick (Elaine) Thompson. A private Graveside Service for family and friends will be held at Brandon Cemetery on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. All are welcome to attend a Memorial Reception at the Brockie Donovan George Brockie Fellowship Centre, 332-8th Street, at 11:00 a.m.
