Obituary of Anne Drosdoski

DROSDOSKI: Anne Drosdoski passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 98 years. Mom was born to John and Teenie Pradinuk in Rossburn, Manitoba on September 7, 1921. She lived on the family farm until 1943 when she married Harry Drosdoski, whom she had known all her life. She started her married life on a half section of land, where they lived until her first son, Wayne, was born in 1945. They moved to Rossburn and owned and operated a café for a few years. They then bought a poolroom with living quarters and worked at that for many years. Their second son, Milton, was born in 1952. Years later they sold the poolroom and built a new house in Rossburn. Mom worked at the Rossburn Co-Op for 14 years. Upon retirement they moved to Brandon. They lived in many homes in Brandon, lastly in Village Green on Ottawa Avenue. After Dad passed away, Mom stayed on her own until May 2019. After suffering a fall, she spent some time in the hospital before moving to Valleyview Care Home, where she stayed until her passing. While at Valleyview, she took part in bingo, entertainment and other activities; but her favourite thing was when family and friends came to visit. Mom was a great cook, making delicious perogies, cabbage rolls, buns and much more. In her 90's she was still making Ukrainian Christmas Eve supper for her family. As Mom aged, she slowed down a lot but still played bingo, canasta and 500 with her friends at Village Green. She loved cards, especially canasta. We played with her every Wednesday; she played with Marilyn on Tuesdays, and with Genny, Pat and Susan on Mondays and Thursdays; I told you she loved canasta! Mom had many talents; she knitted, made quilts, and did needle work, crocheting and wedding cake decorating. She always had a large garden and canned pickles, beets, borscht, made jams, jellies and much more. Anne was predeceased by her husband Harry; her parents John and Teenie; sister Lena and her two brothers: Matthew and Peter; as well as her sisters-in-law: Carrie, Irene, Muriel, Emily, Lena and Nettie and her brothers-in-law: Joe, Peter, Merv, Conrad and William. She is survived by her sons: Wayne (Susan) and Milton (Valerie); four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mom was laid to rest on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Anne may be made to a charity of choice.
