Obituary of Betty Anne Hughes

HUGHES: Betty Anne Hughes (née Miller), passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the age of 63 years. She was born on February 21, 1956 to Thomas Miller and Mary Dale. Betty grew up on a farm near Winnipegosis, Manitoba. Betty's early life on the farm was surrounded by love and laughter alongside her parents and seven other siblings. Upon graduation from Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School, she moved to Brandon. There she married, raised her children, and worked at the North Hill IGA for 30 years. Betty then worked at Convergys before taking a job to Brandon Regional Health Centre. At each workplace, Betty formed lasting friendships that she cherished greatly and could often be found at lunch or on a coffee date with one of these dear friends. Betty will be remembered by many for her gentle nature, adventurous spirit and selflessness. Whether you were one of her many siblings, friends, coworkers, acquaintance or someone she had just met, she was interested in you, how you felt and what you had to say. She is survived by her children: Adam (Rachel) and Ashley (Matt), granddaughter Ruby, and siblings: Lyle (Norine), Valie (Sam), Lorna, Gloria (Ted), Susan (Lorne), Beverley (Lee), Mabel, and brother-in-law Dave (Marguerite). She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra. A private Celebration of Life will be held for all friends and family of Betty. Please contact Brockie Donovan Funeral Home for details. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
