Obituary of John "Ray" Raymond Hazlewood

HAZLEWOOD: John Raymond (Ray) Hazlewood passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at Fairview Personal Care Home, on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the age of 87 years. Ray was born on August 20, 1932 to Sam and Jean Hazlewood. He lost his mother at birth. Ray was taken from the hospital by his Aunt and Uncle Amanda and John Hazlewood. He attended school in Crandall and Hamiota. Ray worked in Rivers and Wawa, ON and later back at the farm, eventually taking his electrician course in Winnipeg. He worked in Shilo for 20 years before retiring due to ill health. Ray spent time at Shoal Lake beach where he enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved to go camping in his 5th wheel with Good Sam's RV Club. He also enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble and spending time with family. Ray is survived by his wife Geraldine (Gerry), step-children Heather (Roger) Eppert, Shannon Haithwaite (Murray Denbow), Robert (Sandra) Haithwaite, eight step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Olive Doug Reid, cousin/sister Ina Hyndman and sisters-in-law Donna Hazlewood and June Hazlewood. A Memorial Service was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Kim Lewarne officiating. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
