Obituary of Leonard Olson

OLSON: Leonard Olson. It is with great sadness that the family of Leonard Roy Olson announces his passing after no communication from him since his birthday, February 14 of 2016, when he turned 69 years of age. His body was found on September 6, 2019, providing Leonard`s family and friends with some much needed closure. Leonard (Ollie, as his friends called him) is forever remembered by his sister Amy (Olsen) McAlpine (Lloyd), of Brandon, MB; brother Gary Olsen of Brandon, MB; niece Christina Campbell of Brandon, MB; nephews: Cory Trotz (Krista) of Brandon, MB, and Curtis Trotz, of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He is also fondly remembered by four nieces: Ashley, Nicole, Ally, and Olivia, as well as five nephews: Arron, Zander, Jaden, Easton and Reese. Also left to mourn his loss is many cousins, family and long-time friends. Leonard was predeceased by his dad Arnold Conrad Olsen in 1966, mom Doris Victoria Olsen in 2001, brother-in-law, Zanny Trotz in 2001, sister Darlene Olsen in 2015, and brother Ken (Ollie) Olsen in 2017. Leonard began his career at the tender age of sixteen, when he worked at the neighbours farm. He learned many trades in his younger years, including working on the tie gangs for CP Rail, where he was a tie machine operator, and he also worked for an overhead door company for a bit in Calgary. He eventually moved to Edmonton, and made a long time career as a manufacturer at Ostrem Chemicals, where he created everything from cleaning supplies to shampoo. A Celebration in Memory of Leonard will be held at the Salvation Army Church, 9 Princess Avenue East (corner of 1st and Princess) on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with Corps Officer Steven Frank officiating. A light luncheon will follow in the lower level of the church. A quiet family interment will follow at a later date.
