Obituary of Robert "Bert" Leslie

LESLIE: Robert Bertram Leslie, of Brandon, MB, born September 20, 1957 in Cranberry Portage, MB to Rob and Eileen Leslie. Bert passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 28, 2019 at the age of 62 years. Bert was born in his parents' garage, and mechanics was always a part of his life. He grew up in Cranberry Portage and completed his schooling at Frontier Collegiate. He successfully challenged the first three years of auto mechanics, and continued on to attain his Red Seal certification as a heavy duty mechanic. Over the years, Bert expanded into the logging and mining industries, and was a successful businessman. Upon retirement, he successfully pursued his interest in farming, creating a family business, the Bar L Ranch, which will be a lasting legacy. Bert was always actively involved in the communities he lived in, often in an unofficial capacity. When the family moved to Brandon he joined the Shilo social club to support the military. Bert had many interests including the economy, agriculture, mining, logging and politics. Bert is survived by his wife Laura, children Mathew (BreighAnn) Runions, Amanda (Randy) Agecoutay, Robin Leslie, James Leslie, Becky (Tim) Garand, sisters Debbie McLauchlan, Joan Leslie, Jennifer O'Brian Somerville, brothers Michael Leslie, Brien (Cynthia) Leslie, Donnie Leslie, grandchildren Faith Agecoutay, Mylah Agecoutay, Ahlora Agecoutay, Abby Henry, Ethan Henry, Isys Runions, Ryder Runions, Hailey Cordell, Cadence Cordell, Bella Garand, Lilly Garand, Daisy Garand and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Bert was predeceased by his mother Eileen Gertrude (Teed) Leslie and father Robert Stanley Leslie. A Celebration of Bert's Life will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brockie Donovan Chapel. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Leslie, Brien Leslie, Donnie Leslie, Debbie Mclauchlan, Joan Leslie, Mathew and BreighAnn Runions, Robin Leslie, Amanda and Randy Agecoutay and James Leslie. Donations may be made in Bert's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
