Obituary of Zanovia Colleen Agar

AGAR: Zanovia Colleen Agar (née Luky) of Brandon, Manitoba passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, after a brief, yet determined fight, with brain cancer. Born on March 4, 1955 in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, she grew up on the family farm, attended Gilbert Plains Collegiate and later, Assiniboine Community College in Brandon. After a year of college, she worked in printing, media and marketing. She took a career break to focus on raising her two children, and then worked as an elementary school secretary, until retiring in 2016. Zanovia's family and her faith were very important to her. She loved horses, cats, and above all, mushrooms – both hunting and studying them. She became an amateur mycologist, seeking them out in urban and rural areas, taking trips in her camper, and enjoying nature. She loved learning and had a curious mind. Zanovia was artistic by nature and had a knack for making things look nicer. Her creativity touched every part of her life; she was a great illustrator, cook, seamstress, and enjoyed as many crafts as she could find time for. She believed that "a day without laughter is a day wasted," and she is laughing in most photographs and in our memories of her. Zanovia is survived by her son Nigel Agar of Brandon; daughter Marissa Agar of Tasmania, Australia; brother Dennis Luky of Gilbert Plains; sister Lisa Luky of Mission, British Columbia; nephew Brett Luky; niece Kayla Luky; two great-nephews and a great-niece. She is predeceased by her parents, Nick and Lillian Luky of Gilbert Plains. A Funeral Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3434 Park Avenue, Brandon on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
