Obituary of Walter Tetzlaff

TETZLAFF: Walter Frederick Bruno, born July 2, 1942, passed away peacefully, with his family by his bedside, on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at the age of 77 years. Walter (Dad) was born in Russell, Manitoba, and grew up in Inglis, Manitoba. In 1961, Dad graduated high school and moved to Brandon, Manitoba, where he completed his Psychiatric Nursing Diploma in 1964. Dad was employed at the Brandon Mental Health Centre from 1964 to 1975. He branched out in 1975, as a Community Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor, retiring in 1997. Mom and Dad loved to travel and always made time to visit friends and family, often making new friends along the way! It was during his time at BMHC that Dad met some of his best friends, however, he also met the love of his life, Beverley (Sanderson). Mom and Dad were married on July 6th, 1963 in the Redeemer Lutheran Church and had an amazing marriage. They had tremendous respect and unending love for each other, and that showed even more true when Mom was sick and passed in 2010. Dad's favourite sport and passion was curling! He often curled multiple games a week, endless bonspiels and many competitive weekends away, with friends and teammates; always having a great time, win or lose! Dad was predeceased by his wife Beverley, and his parents Reinhold and Ella Tetzlaff; sister-in-law Eva and brother-in-law Ivan and daughter-in-law Darlene. Dad will be missed by all his family, but especially his immediate family: son Ted; grandchildren: Helena Hazen (Lyle Breker) Tera Hazen; Amy (Chad McKay); Melissa Tetzlaff (Cory Dunn); Trevor Tetzlaff (Kim Lanega); daughter Kim; grandchildren: Kassandra Brule (Kyle); Krysten Mace (Andy); Kyle Monaghan and many great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; his brother Clifford Tetzlaff and sister Valerie Royan and many nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family.

Dad lived life….he loved life and he was not ready to leave. Dad fought a courageous battle and we are so grateful we had the time with him that we were allowed.
