Obituary of Fay Bass

BASS: Fay Lovina (nee Atkinson). Fay was born September 13, 1926 in Camrose, Alberta to Earl and Margaret Atkinson. The family moved to Brandon when Earl got a job at Scott National. After she completed school, she also worked for a time at Scott National as a secretary. Mom had wanted to be a hairstylist and was even enrolled in the course when she met Dad (Nick Bass). Mom and Dad were married on September 4, 1951 and were happy together for 55 years, until Dad passed away on February 1, 2007. Mom was proud to be an active part of B & B Insurance Agency working beside Dad as they built the business together over the years. Mom was always proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and their accomplishments. She took great pride and joy in watching everyone have fun in the pool, as well as great enthusiasm in hosting and cooking large meals for all the big family gatherings at their home on 1st Street in Brandon. Mom was also an avid knitter and made Christmas stockings for everyone. She loved making theme holiday and birthday cakes for everyone. Mom loved her flowers and planted them every spring. None of us can look at a pansy without thinking about her. In later years, Mom and Dad enjoyed their trips to Palm Springs, CA with friends, and to Orlando, FL to visit with Michael and Adam. Mom was, above all else, a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nana (both grandmother and great-grandmother). Even as the end came near, she always said "I Love You". Mom is survived by her children: son, George (Wendy); grandchildren, Elizabeth (Andrew), Victoria (David), Nicholas (April) and Tasha, and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kipling; son, Earl; son, Michael, grandson, Adam; daughter, Margaret (Jim) Murray; grandchildren, A.J. (Bonny), Nicholas (Amanda) and Jonathan (Breena), and great-grandchildren, Emma, Jade, Mikayla, Cadence, Colton, Keira, Xander, Logan and Connor, and son, David. She is also survived by her sister, Ina Munroe of Brandon. Mom was predeceased by Dad, her parents and her sister, Opal Gentles of Fort St. John, B.C.

Dearest Mom and Nana, until we meet again.

In tears we saw you sinking,

We watched you fade away,

You suffered much in silence

You fought so hard to stay,

You faced your tasks with courage

But still kept on fighting

Until the very end.

God saw you getting tired,

When a cure was not to be,

So He put his arms around you,

And whispered, "Come with Me."

So when we saw you sleeping

So peaceful, free from pain,

We could not wish you back to suffer that again.
