Obituary of M. Lloyd "Rob" Robinson

ROBINSON: M. Lloyd "Rob". Peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, Rob left us to rejoin the love of his life Marlene, who passed away back in 2018. Rob was born on October 5, 1934, and raised on a farm just outside of Waskada, Manitoba. The death of his father at a young age forced the sale of the family farm, and Rob joined the RCAF in 1953 at the age of 18. His 25 year military career saw him posted to France and Germany. However, Manitoba always remained home. His Canadian postings remained close to home in Saskatoon, Portage la Prairie, and Winnipeg. Home is where he chose to retire, and home is where he met Marlene in Winnipeg, back in 1978. It was there that Marlene introduced Rob to the second love of his life, golf. They were married in 1981.Rob and Marlene enjoyed a happy and eventful 35 year retirement together while living in Crandall, Hamiota, and finally, Brandon. In the winter, they maintained a home in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, where they were able to fine tune their game year round. He became an accomplished golfer, and won several club tournaments. In addition to golf, he was an avid curler, and curled in invitational bonspiels in both Switzerland and Scotland. For years, he was a fixture at the CFB Curling Clubs in Westwin and Fort Osborne. Rob was a man of few words, but you always knew where you stood with him. He loved family above all else, and stood by us through all the bad times over the years, despite having many reasons to give up on some of us. He is survived by his sons from his first marriage: Tom (Shelly) Robinson and Steve (Donna) Robinson, his adopted daughters: Patti Caldwell and Lori Anderson, seven grandchildren: Marni, Michelle (Chris), Michael, Amanda, Julianne, Kylie and Alyssa (Chris), three great grandchildren: James, Olivia and Emily, and numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Rob's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
